Frank Messina
Frank Messina (born c. 1968) is an American poet, author, and performance artist. He is best known for his published works, including Full Count: The Book of Mets Poetry (2009), which explores baseball fanaticism, and Disorderly Conduct (2002), which reflects on the September 11 terrorist attacks based on his firsthand experience as a volunteer at Ground Zero. Messina has collaborated with notable musicians such as members of Phish, the Spin Doctors, and Sun Ra Arkestra, as well as composer David Amram. He performed his poem, 'Bicycle,' at Symphony Space in New York City to commemorate the tenth anniversary of 9/11. As a devoted fan and season ticket holder of the New York Mets, Messina often attends games donning a replica team jersey with the nickname 'The Poet' on the back.
