Freddie Jackson, born Frederick Anthony Jackson on October 2, 1956, is an American singer known for his R&B/soul hits. Originally from New York, Jackson started his music career in the late 1970s with the funk band Mystic Merlin. Some of his well-known songs include 'Rock Me Tonight (For Old Times Sake)' (1985), 'Have You Ever Loved Somebody' (1986), 'Jam Tonight' (1986), 'Do Me Again' (1990), and 'You Are My Lady' (1985). He made a contribution to the soundtrack of the 1989 film 'All Dogs Go to Heaven' with the duet 'Love Survives' alongside Irene Cara, produced by Michael Lloyd. Jackson also appeared in the movie 'King of New York.' Born in Harlem, he began his singing career in the White Rock Baptist Church of Harlem, where he met his future producer and songwriting partner Paul Laurence. Jackson gained popularity performing in New York nightclubs during the late 1970s.
