Frederick Burdette Spencer, born December 20, 1961, is an American former world champion motorcycle racer. Known as Fast Freddie, Spencer is considered one of the greatest motorcycle racers of the early 1980s. He began racing at the age of four, participating in dirt track events near his hometown of Shreveport, Louisiana. In 1978, he won the 250cc U.S. National Novice Class Road Racing Championship. Spencer then joined the American Honda racing team in the AMA Superbike Championship and secured Honda's first-ever super bike victory in the 1980 AMA Superbike Championship at Road America. He gained international recognition by winning two legs at the 1980 U.S. versus Britain Transatlantic Trophy match races, defeating World Champions Kenny Roberts and Barry Sheene. Spencer's career highlights include finishing third in the 1983 500cc Grand Prix motorcycle racing World Championship.
