Garrett McNamara (born August 10, 1967) is an American professional big wave surfer. He gained worldwide recognition for setting the world record for the largest wave ever surfed. This remarkable achievement was captured in the HBO series '100 Foot Wave'. McNamara is known for his daring surf escapades, including successfully negotiating a monstrous barrel at Jaws and being the first person to ride a wave formed from calving glaciers.
