Garrison Keillor, born Gary Edward Keillor on August 7, 1942, is an American author, singer, humorist, voice actor, and radio personality. He is best known as the creator and former host of the Minnesota Public Radio show, A Prairie Home Companion, which ran from 1974 to 2016. Keillor is also the creator of the fictional town of Lake Wobegon, the setting of many of his books, including Lake Wobegon Days and Leaving Home: A Collection of Lake Wobegon Stories. Additionally, he voiced the character of Guy Noir, a detective, in skits featured on A Prairie Home Companion. Keillor also created The Writer's Almanac, a daily radio/podcast program that combines poetry with historical events. In November 2017, Keillor faced an allegation of inappropriate behavior, resulting in the termination of his business ties with Minnesota Public Radio.
