Gary McCord is an American professional golfer, commentator, and author. Born on May 23, 1948, in San Gabriel, California, McCord was raised in southern California and graduated from Ramona High School in Riverside. He was a two-time Division II All-American for the UC Riverside Highlanders. In 1971, McCord turned professional and played in over 400 PGA Tour events. While he never won, he achieved two second-place finishes at the Greater Milwaukee Open in 1975 and 1977. Known for his unique approach to putting, McCord once won the PGA Tour category of 'Fewest Putts' by deliberately missing greens and chipping close. McCord also gained fame as a commentator and author, contributing to the coverage of golf events and publishing books on the sport.
