George Grizzard
George Grizzard
George Cooper Grizzard Jr. (April 1, 1928 – October 2, 2007) was an American stage, television, and film actor. Born and raised in Washington, DC, Grizzard attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill before beginning his career in advertising. He started his acting career at Washington's Arena Stage. Grizzard gained recognition for his role as an unscrupulous United States Senator in the film Advise and Consent (1962). His other notable film credits include From the Terrace (1960), Comes a Horseman (1978), and Seems Like Old Times (1980). On Broadway, he made his debut in The Desperate Hours (1955) and became known for his work in Edward Albee's plays, including a Grammy-winning performance in the original production of Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? (1962).
