Gerald Jones

Gerald Jones (born August 21, 1970) is a Welsh Labour Party politician and Member of Parliament (MP) for Merthyr Tydfil and Rhymney since 2015. He currently serves as the Shadow Minister for Scotland since 2023 and has previously held the position of Shadow Wales Office minister. Jones became involved in community activism at a young age, driven by the industrial decline of the 1980s and the miners' strike. He joined the Labour Party in 1988 and has held various roles within the party, including Chairperson of New Tredegar Branch Labour Party and Merthyr Tydfil & Rhymney Constituency Labour Party. Jones has also served as a Labour Councillor for Caerphilly County Borough Council since 1995, representing New Tredegar.
