Geraldine Chaplin Biography
Geraldine Leigh Chaplin is a British/American actress, born on July 31, 1944. She is the daughter of Charlie Chaplin and Oona O'Neill. Chaplin began her career in dance and modeling before transitioning to acting. She gained recognition for her role as Tonya in David Lean's Doctor Zhivago (1965), earning her a Golden Globe nomination. She made her Broadway debut in Lillian Hellman's The Little Foxes in 1967 and portrayed Queen Nefertiti in Raúl Araiza's Nefertiti and Akhenaton (1973). Chaplin received her second Golden Globe nomination for Robert Altman's Nashville (1975) and a BAFTA nomination for Welcome to L.A. (1976). In the biopic Chaplin (1992), she played her grandmother Hannah Chaplin, earning her a third Golden Globe nomination.
