Gong Yoo
Gong Yoo, born Gong Ji-cheol on July 10, 1979, is a South Korean actor known for his roles in popular television dramas and films. He gained recognition for his performances in the dramas Coffee Prince (2007), Guardian: The Lonely and Great God (2016–2017), The Silent Sea (2021), and Squid Game (2021). Gong has also starred in notable films such as Silenced (2011), Train to Busan (2016), and The Age of Shadows (2016). He adopted his stage name by combining his father's family name, Gong, and his mother's family name, Yoo. Gong attended Dongin High School and studied theater and film at Kyung Hee University. Recently, it was revealed that Gong Yoo is a descendant of Chinese philosopher Confucius, belonging to the 79th generation of Confucius's descendants from the Gokbu Gong clan.
