Gregory White Smith (October 4, 1951 – April 10, 2014) was an American biographer, musician, historic preservationist, art collector, philanthropist, attorney, and businessman. He is best known for co-authoring 18 books with Steven Naifeh, including the Pulitzer Prize-winning biography 'Jackson Pollock: An American Saga' (1990). Smith's expertise in biographical writing extended to other notable figures such as Vincent van Gogh. In addition to his literary pursuits, Smith founded several companies, including Best Lawyers, which revolutionized professional rankings. He faced numerous health challenges throughout his life, including a brain tumor diagnosis in 1975 that led to multiple surgeries and experimental treatments. Smith's remarkable journey and pursuit of cutting-edge medical care were featured on CBS's 60 Minutes and chronicled in his book 'Making Miracles Happen'.
