Gretchen Elizabeth Carlson (born June 21, 1966) is an American broadcast journalist, writer, and television personality. Born and raised in Minnesota, Carlson began her career as a youth violinist and beauty pageant contestant. After winning Miss Minnesota in 1988, she was crowned Miss America for 1989. Carlson attended Stanford University and graduated in 1990. She worked as a television anchor for various local TV stations before becoming a national correspondent and anchor on CBS. From 2005 to 2013, Carlson co-hosted Fox & Friends on Fox News, and then hosted The Real Story with Gretchen Carlson from 2013 to 2016. In 2016, she filed a lawsuit against former Fox News chairman Roger Ailes, alleging sexual harassment.
