Hal Robinson Biography
Hal Robinson (born July 29, 1952) is an American classical double bass player. He is best known for his role as the principal bassist of the Philadelphia Orchestra. Robinson was born in Houston, Texas, and comes from a musical family. Both of his parents were members of the Houston Symphony Orchestra, with his father serving as the principal bassist. Robinson and his four siblings all pursued careers in music. He attended Robert E. Lee High School in Houston and studied bass at Northwestern University and the Peabody Institute. Throughout his career, Robinson has played with various orchestras and opera orchestras, including the Albuquerque Symphony and the Santa Fe Opera Orchestra.
