Hans Peterson (26 October 1922 – 16 August 2022) was a Swedish writer, primarily known for his contributions to children's literature. Born on 26 October 1922 in Väring, Västergötland, Sweden, Peterson achieved notable success in his career. He received several prestigious awards for his work, including the Svenska Dagbladet Literature Prize in 1955, the Nils Holgersson Plaque in 1958 for his book Magnus, Mattias och Mari, the German Prize for Children's Literature in 1959, the Astrid Lindgren Prize in 1971, and the Wettergrens barnbokollon in 1992. Tragically, Peterson passed away on 16 August 2022 at the age of 99, reportedly by suicide.
