    Harry Long Biography
    Harry J. 'Little' Long (December 28, 1897 – December 8, 1945) was an American college football coach and professor of biology. Born in Decatur, Illinois, Long graduated from Decatur High School in 1915. He attended James Millikin University and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1919, majoring in biology and minoring in mathematics. He went on to complete his Master of Arts degree in biology at Columbia University in 1928. Long began his coaching career at Prairie View A&M University in 1919 before coaching at Langston University in Oklahoma in 1922. He then became head football coach at Paul Quinn College from 1923 to 1927. Unfortunately, Long passed away in 1945 while working on completing his Doctorate at the University of Michigan.
