Henry Arnold Waxman (born September 12, 1939) is an American politician and lobbyist who served as a U.S. representative from California from 1975 to 2015. A member of the Democratic Party, Waxman represented various districts in California, including parts of Los Angeles, West Hollywood, Santa Monica, and Beverly Hills. Throughout his career, he played a significant role in passing several important laws, such as the Infant Formula Act of 1980, Orphan Drug Act of 1983, Drug Price Competition and Patent Term Restoration Act of 1984, Clean Air Act of 1990, Ryan White CARE Act of 1990, Food Quality Protection Act of 1996, State Children's Health Insurance Program of 1997, Postal Accountability and Enhancement Act of 2006, and the Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act of 2009.
