Hillary Louise Schieve (born October 12, 1970) is an American businesswoman and politician from Nevada. She has been the mayor of Reno since 2014 and is the first independent politician to serve as President of the United States Conference of Mayors since 2023. Prior to becoming mayor, Schieve served on the Reno City Council from 2012 to 2014. In the 2014 mayoral election, she defeated her opponent, Raymond 'Pez' Pezonella, with 60.90% of the vote. Although the mayor's office is non-partisan, she received support from the Democratic Party. Schieve endorsed Hillary Clinton for president in the 2016 general election.
