Howard Reig Biography
Howard Reig (May 31, 1921 – November 10, 2008) was an American radio and television announcer. He was born on May 31, 1921, in New York City. Reig worked as a staff announcer for General Electric's Schenectady, New York, stations WGY (AM), WGFM (now WRVE), and WRGB starting in 1943. He then joined the National Broadcasting Company (NBC) in 1952 and remained with the network until 2005. Reig is best known for being the voice of NBC Nightly News. He also handled announcing duties for the local newscasts of WNBC-TV, NBC's flagship station in New York City. Reig retired from NBC in 2005 but continued to be heard on Nightly News until 2007. He earned a B.A. and M.F.A. from SUNY Albany. Howard Reig passed away on November 10, 2008, at the age of 87 in Venice, Florida.
