Howie Long Biography
Howie Long, born Howard Matthew Moses Long on January 6, 1960, is an American former football defensive end who played in the NFL for 13 seasons. He was selected by the Oakland and Los Angeles Raiders in the second round of the 1981 NFL Draft and spent his entire career with the franchise. Long achieved eight Pro Bowl selections and three first-team All-Pro selections while contributing to the team's Super Bowl XVIII victory. In 2000, he was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Following his retirement, Long transitioned to acting and broadcasting. He currently serves as a studio analyst for Fox Sports' NFL coverage. Long was born in Somerville, Massachusetts, and raised in Charlestown, Boston, where he attended Milford High School and excelled in multiple sports.
