Ian Bedford Biography
Ian Bedford was an English first-class cricketer who played for Middlesex from 1947 to 1962. Born on February 11, 1930, Bedford had a remarkable start to his career as a lower-order batsman and leg break bowler. In his debut match against Essex, he took four wickets for 81 runs. Bedford continued to have impressive performances, taking multiple wickets in matches against Nottinghamshire, Surrey, and Lancashire in the same year. Although his subsequent seasons were less successful, Bedford returned to the spotlight when he became captain of Middlesex in 1961 and 1962. He played a total of 77 first-class matches, taking 128 wickets at an average cost of 32.87. Bedford passed away on September 18, 1966.
