Ian Lake
Ian Lake (26 January 1935 – 12 August 2004) was a British pianist and composer, best known for his many years of teaching at the Royal College of Music in London. Born in Quorn, Leicestershire, Lake received his education at Trent College after winning a scholarship. Following his National Service in the army band, he pursued his studies at the Royal College of Music on another scholarship. In 1966, he joined the faculty at the college and eventually became a professor of piano. Despite his conviction for sexually abusing children in 1995 and the end of his teaching career, Lake continued to perform as a concert pianist and recording artist. He was married twice and had five children.
