    Ike Williams Biography
    Ike Williams (August 2, 1923 – September 5, 1994) was a former professional boxer and lightweight world boxing champion. He won the World Lightweight Championship in April 1945 and successfully defended the title eight times against six different fighters. Williams was known for his powerful right hand and was regarded as one of the greatest punchers of all time. He was named The Ring magazine's Fighter of the Year for 1948 and was inducted into both The Ring Boxing Hall of Fame and the International Boxing Hall of Fame. Williams began his professional career in 1940 and hailed from Brunswick, Georgia.
