Ilan Hall

Ilan D. Hall is an American chef, television personality, and restaurateur. He gained recognition as the winner of the second season of Top Chef. Hall, originally from Great Neck, New York, comes from a family of immigrants, with his father hailing from Glasgow, Scotland, and his mother from Israel. He began his culinary career working at a seafood store in his hometown and went on to receive training at Italy's Lorenzo de' Medici Apicus Program and the Culinary Institute of America. Hall opened his first restaurant, The Gorbals, in downtown Los Angeles in 2009 and later became the owner-chef of Ramen Hood in Los Angeles. His appearance on Top Chef, particularly his rivalry with Marcel Vigneron, remains one of the show's most remembered moments.
