Ivan Allen Biography
Ivan Allen (June 29, 1930 – May 7, 2012) was an American ballet dancer known for his work with the American Ballet Theatre and the Metropolitan Opera. He became a principal dancer with the American Ballet Theatre in the 1950s and early 1960s. In 1964, he joined the Metropolitan Opera as a principal soloist, making his debut in Jules Massenet's Manon. Allen performed with the company for 14 years, appearing 288 times before his last performance in Richard Strauss's Der Rosenkavalier in 1978. Ivan Allen passed away on May 7, 2012.
