    J. Michael Evans, born John Michael Evans on August 16, 1957, is a Canadian technology executive and the President of Alibaba Group. Prior to his current role, Evans had an extensive 20-year career with U.S. investment bank Goldman Sachs. Additionally, he is a former Olympic rower and achieved a gold medal in rowing at the 1984 Summer Games in Los Angeles as part of the Canadian Olympic team. Evans was born to Dr. John Robert Evans and Jean and has five siblings, including his twin brother Mark. He attended Upper Canada College in Toronto and earned his bachelor's degree from Princeton University. Evans currently leads Alibaba Group's international growth strategy outside of China and reports to CEO Daniel Zhang.
