Jack Buchanan (2 April 1891 – 20 October 1957) was a Scottish theatre and film actor, singer, dancer, producer, and director. Known for his debonair persona, Buchanan was considered the embodiment of the man-about-town character. Born in Helensburgh, Scotland, he began his career as a music hall comedian under the stage name Chump Buchanan. He later moved to London and adopted the name Jack Buchanan. Buchanan achieved success in both theatre and film, with notable roles in classic Hollywood musicals. He is best known for his role in the 1953 film The Band Wagon. Buchanan's career spanned three decades and he is remembered as one of the last knuts, a term referring to stylish London gentlemen.
