Jack Ramsay
John Travilla Ramsay (February 21, 1925 – April 28, 2014) was an American basketball coach and broadcaster. Commonly known as 'Dr. Jack,' Ramsay held an earned doctorate and was one of the most respected coaches in NBA history. He is best known for leading the Portland Trail Blazers to the 1977 NBA championship. Ramsay also worked as a broadcaster for the Indiana Pacers, the Miami Heat, and ESPN TV and ESPN Radio. He was a member of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and received the Chuck Daly Lifetime Achievement Award for the 2009–10 NBA season. Ramsay grew up in Milford, Connecticut, and graduated from Upper Darby High School. He attended Saint Joseph's College after being encouraged by his mother.
