Jack Roth
Jack Roth (1927–2004), also known as Rodney Jack Roth, was an American painter known for his contributions to Abstract Expressionism and Color Field painting. He was born in Brockway, Pennsylvania and received his Master of Fine Arts from the University of Iowa in 1952. Roth also held a doctoral degree in mathematics from Duke University. Throughout his career, he taught math at Ramapo College in New Jersey, as well as at the University of South Florida and the University of Kentucky. Roth's artistic style involved staining raw, unprimed canvas with thinned paint, creating large abstract paintings. His works were exhibited at the Knoedler & Co. Gallery in New York City from 1979 to 1986.
