Jacob Melton

Jacob William Melton is an American professional baseball outfielder currently playing in the Houston Astros organization. Born on September 7, 2000, Melton attended South Medford High School where he played baseball. In his junior season, he hit .453 with nine home runs, and in his senior season, he batted .513 with eight home runs and 33 stolen bases. Melton went undrafted in the 2018 MLB draft and enrolled at Linn-Benton Community College. As a freshman at Linn-Benton in 2019, he had an impressive .365 batting average with three home runs, 39 RBIs, and 16 stolen bases. Melton transferred to Oregon State University but only appeared in seven games before the season was canceled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
