    Jacob Slichter Biography
    Jacob Slichter (born April 5, 1961) is an American musician and academic. He is best known as the drummer for the rock band Semisonic. Born in Boston, Massachusetts, Slichter is the son of physicist Charles Slichter. He graduated from Harvard with a degree in African American studies and history. In 2004, Slichter wrote the book 'So You Wanna Be a Rock & Roll Star' which details his experiences as a member of Semisonic and their journey through the recording industry. Slichter has also spoken about the use of payola in the music industry, mentioning that it took a significant amount of money to get Semisonic's song 'Closing Time' on the air.
