Jacqueline Woodson (born February 12, 1963) is an American writer known for her children's and young adult books. Notable works include Miracle's Boys, Brown Girl Dreaming, After Tupac and D Foster, Feathers, and Show Way, which have earned her a Newbery Honor and critical acclaim. Woodson served as the Young People's Poet Laureate from 2015 to 2017 and was later appointed the National Ambassador for Young People's Literature by the Library of Congress for 2018 to 2019. In 2020, she became a MacArthur Fellow. Woodson was born in Columbus, Ohio, and later moved to Brooklyn, New York, where she pursued her passion for storytelling and writing.
