James Aldridge
James Aldridge (10 July 1918 – 23 February 2015) was an Australian-British writer and journalist known for his contributions during World War II. Born in White Hills, Victoria, he grew up in Swan Hill and later studied at the London School of Economics. Aldridge worked for The Sun News-Pictorial in Melbourne before moving to London in 1938. During the war, he served as a war correspondent in the Middle-East, reporting on the Axis invasions of Greece and Crete. Aldridge's experiences inspired his first novel, 'Signed with Their Honour.' Throughout his career, he authored over 30 books, including war and adventure novels, as well as children's books.
