James Attwood

James Albert Attwood Jr. is an American businessman and Senior Advisor at The Carlyle Group. He is also the chairman of Syniverse Technologies. Attwood has an extensive background in finance and telecommunications, having previously worked as an investment banker at Goldman Sachs and as the EVP of Verizon Communications. He is the son of James A. Attwood, former chairman and CEO of the Mutual Life Insurance Company of New York, and Pauline Attwood, former director of the Bronxville Adult School. Attwood is a graduate of Yale University, where he earned a BA in applied mathematics and an MA in statistics. He later obtained a J.D. from Harvard Law School and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.
