James Coburn Biography
James Harrison Coburn III (August 31, 1928 – November 18, 2002) was an American film and television actor. He appeared in over 70 films and made 100 television appearances throughout his 45-year career. Coburn was known for his rough-hewn leading man persona, often playing tough guy roles in Westerns and action films. Some of his notable film credits include The Magnificent Seven, Hell Is for Heroes, and The Great Escape. He won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor in 1998 for his role in Affliction. Coburn also produced The Mists of Avalon, which earned him a Primetime Emmy Award nomination. He was considered a symbol of cool during the New Hollywood era.
