James Grogan Biography
James David Grogan, also known as Jim Grogan, was an American figure skater born on December 7, 1931, in Tacoma, Washington. Grogan achieved notable success in his competitive career, winning a bronze medal at the 1952 Oslo Olympics and four silver medals at the United States Figure Skating Championships and World Figure Skating Championships. Coached by Edi Scholdan, he trained at the Broadmoor World Arena in Colorado Springs, Colorado. After retiring from competition, Grogan performed in various ice shows including Arthur Wirtz's Hollywood Ice Revue, Sonja Henie's European tour, and Ice Capades. He later became a coach and founded a skating school in Squaw Valley. Grogan passed away on July 3, 2000, in San Bernardino, California, due to multiple organ failure.
