James Keenan

James Keenan, born James Herbert Keenan on April 17, 1964, is an American singer, songwriter, record producer, winemaker, and actor. He gained prominence as the singer and primary lyricist of the rock bands Tool, A Perfect Circle, and Puscifer. Keenan grew up in Ohio and Michigan, and after graduating from high school, he joined the U.S. Army. Following his military service, he attended the Kendall College of Art and Design. In 1988, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in interior design and set construction, which led to the formation of Tool. Keenan is the owner of Merkin Vineyards and Caduceus Cellars in Arizona. While known as a recluse, he supports charitable causes and has made appearances in the acting world.
