Janet Anderson
Janet Anderson (6 December 1949 – 6 February 2023) was a British politician from the Labour Party. Serving as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Rossendale and Darwen from 1992 to 2010, Anderson also held the position of Minister for Tourism from 1998 to 2001. Notably, her tenure as Minister coincided with the 2001 United Kingdom foot-and-mouth outbreak. In 2009, Anderson became embroiled in the United Kingdom parliamentary expenses scandal, where it was found that she had claimed costs for journeys she had not made. Born in Newcastle upon Tyne in 1949, Anderson attended Trowbridge Girls' High School, Kingswood Grammar School, and later studied languages and business studies at the Polytechnic of Central London and the Université de Nantes.
