Janet Kagan
Janet Kagan (1946-2008) was an American author known for her contributions to the science fiction genre. She wrote two science fiction novels, 'Uhura's Song' (1985) and 'Hellspark' (1988), as well as two science fiction collections, 'Mirabile' (1991) and 'The Collected Kagan' (2016). Kagan's short stories appeared in popular publications such as Analog Science Fiction and Fact and Asimov's Science Fiction, earning her nominations for prestigious awards like the Hugo and Nebula. Her story 'The Nutcracker Coup' won the Hugo Award for Best Novelette and was also nominated for the Nebula Award. Throughout her career, Kagan received multiple Asimov's Reader Poll awards for her novelettes, including 'The Loch Moose Monster' (1990), 'Getting the Bugs Out' (1991), and 'The Nutcracker Coup' (1993).
