    Jared Payne Biography
    Jared Payne is a retired rugby union player and current coach. He was born on October 13, 1985, in Tauranga, New Zealand. Payne played as a centre for Ulster and the Ireland national team during his playing career. He also represented New Zealand at the U21 and 7s level and captained his provincial side, Northland. Payne began his Super Rugby career with the Chiefs in 2007 and later played for the Crusaders and the Blues. After retiring from playing in 2018, he became Ulster's defence coach and later moved to Clermont Auvergne as their defence coach in 2022. Payne was a member of the 2017 British & Irish Lions tour to New Zealand.
