Jason Benjamin

Jason Benjamin (1971 – 16 February 2021) was an Australian painter. Born in Melbourne in 1971, Benjamin spent his youth in the United States and Mexico before returning to Australia in the early 1990s. He began exhibiting his artwork in 1989 and achieved recognition, winning awards such as the 2005 Packing Room Prize at the Archibald Prize and the 1993, 1994, and 1996 Mosman Art Prizes. Known for his landscape paintings, Benjamin was also a finalist in the Archibald Prize multiple times. Tragically, he was found deceased in the Murrumbidgee River near Carrathool, New South Wales on 16 February 2021 at the age of 50.
