Jason Cruz Biography
Jason Alexander Cruz (born February 6, 1974) is an American musician, artist, and poet. He is best known as the lead singer and lyricist of the punk band Strung Out, which formed in 1989. Cruz began playing with Strung Out in 1991 and has been a prominent figure in the Southern California punk rock scene. In addition to his work with Strung Out, Cruz fronts his roots Americana band called 'Jason Cruz and Howl'. He is also an accomplished visual artist, showcasing his original paintings, graphic design, and photography on his personal website. Cruz draws inspiration from a variety of influences, including classic musicians such as Tom Waits, Jimi Hendrix, and Bob Dylan, as well as visual artists like Robert McGinnis and Jean-Michel Basquiat.
