Jason Lai

Jason Lai (born 1974) is a British orchestral conductor and integral coach. He served as the assistant conductor of the BBC Philharmonic from 2002 to 2005. Currently, Lai holds the position of Principal Conductor of the Conservatory Orchestra at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, part of the National University of Singapore. With a musical journey that began at the age of 10, Lai studied cello, piano, and composition, receiving a scholarship to Chetham's School of Music and later studying at Worcester College, Oxford. He furthered his studies at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, earning a Masters in composition and a Diploma in cello. In 2000-2002, Lai was appointed as the Fellow in Conducting at GSMD. He was also the winner of the BBC Young Conductors Workshop in 2002.
