Jean Marchand
Jean Marchand (December 20, 1918 – August 28, 1988) was a French Canadian public figure, trade unionist, and politician in Quebec, Canada. During the 1949 Asbestos Strike, he served as the secretary of the Catholic Workers Confederation of Canada (CCCL) and led the striking workers. Marchand crossed paths with Pierre Trudeau during this time. In the 1965 federal election, Marchand, along with Gérard Pelletier and Pierre Trudeau, ran as Liberal candidates and were known as the 'Three Wise Men.' Marchand won his riding in Quebec City and was appointed to the government of Prime Minister Lester B. Pearson. He played a significant role in shaping Canadian politics during his time in office.
