Jeff Barry (born Joel Adelberg; April 3, 1938) is an American pop music songwriter, singer, and record producer. He is best known for co-writing hit songs such as 'Do Wah Diddy Diddy,' 'Da Doo Ron Ron,' 'Then He Kissed Me,' 'Be My Baby,' 'Chapel of Love,' and 'River Deep - Mountain High.' Alongside his then-wife Ellie Greenwich and Phil Spector, Barry wrote several successful songs including 'Leader of the Pack' and 'Sugar, Sugar' with Andy Kim. He also co-wrote the theme song 'Without Us' with Tom Scott. Born in Brooklyn to a Jewish family, Barry served in the Army before pursuing a career in music.
