Jennifer Joseph

Jennifer Joseph (born 1949) is a Melbourne-based artist known for her work in the Abstract art movement. She received her diploma of Arts and Crafts from Melbourne Teachers' College in 1971 and studied Fine Art part-time at RMIT University from 1977 to 1979. Joseph considers herself essentially self-taught despite her education. Her work focuses on the abstract and lucid, achieved through the use of ephemeral materials such as graphite, linen, wood, acrylic paint, paper, and 'found objects'. Joseph's creative process involves contemplation of materials and emotions, executing each work at great speed. She is known for her meditative and highly concentrated approach to art-making.
