Jerry Ray Shea
Jerry Shea (12 August 1892 – 30 June 1947) was a Welsh international rugby player who excelled in both rugby union and rugby league. He played club rugby for Newport and Pill Harriers in rugby union, and later represented Wigan as a professional rugby league footballer. Shea was known for his versatility as an athlete, excelling not only in rugby but also in swimming and professional boxing. He is renowned for being the first rugby union player to achieve the Full House of scoring in an international match. Born in Newport in 1892, Shea began his rugby career with Pill Harriers before moving to Newport RFC. He earned his first cap for Wales against the New Zealand Army in 1919 and went on to play in the Five Nations Championship. Shea's contributions to the sport left a lasting legacy.
