Jerry Walsh Biography
Jerry Walsh is an Irish former rugby union footballer, born on 3 November 1938 in Cork, Ireland. Known for his defensive skills, Walsh played as a centre for the Irish national team from 1960 to 1967, earning a total of twenty-six caps. Despite his defensive prowess, he didn't score a try for Ireland until his 26th appearance, which coincided with a famous victory at Sydney Cricket Ground. Walsh was also selected for the 1966 British & Irish Lions tour to Australia and New Zealand, but had to return home early due to his father's serious illness. He played for University College Cork RFC and Sundays Well at the club level.
