Jess Smith
Jess Smith (October 10, 1872—May 30, 1923) was a member of President Warren G. Harding's Ohio Gang. Born and raised in Washington Court House, Ohio, Smith became a successful owner of a department store with the help of his friend, Harry M. Daugherty. He later joined Daugherty as an aide and chief advisor when Daugherty served as U.S. Attorney General. Smith wielded considerable influence in this role and was known to be Daugherty's roommate at Washington, D.C.'s Wardman Park Hotel.
