Ji-Tu Cumbuka Biography
Ji-Tu Cumbuka (March 4, 1940 – July 4, 2017) was an American actor known for his work in movies and television shows. Born in Helena, Alabama, Cumbuka pursued a career in acting after moving to California. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in theatre and a master's degree in cinematography from Columbia College in New York City. Cumbuka gained recognition for his role as 'Torque' in the TV series A Man Called Sloane. He also appeared in notable TV productions such as Roots, Daniel Boone, Knots Landing, The A-Team, and Murder She Wrote. Cumbuka published his autobiography A Giant to Remember: The Black Actor in Hollywood in 2011. He is survived by his son and granddaughter.
