Jim Ford (August 23, 1941 – November 18, 2007) was an American singer-songwriter known for his soul, country, and folk music. Originally from Johnson County, Kentucky, Ford lived in various cities including New Orleans and Los Angeles before settling in Fort Bragg, California. His talent as a songwriter led to his songs being recorded by notable artists such as Aretha Franklin, P.J. Proby, Bobby Womack, and the Temptations. One of his most famous songs is 'Harry Hippie', recorded and released by Womack in 1973. Despite battling a cocaine addiction, Ford made a comeback after finding solace in his faith. He continued recording until his passing in 2007.
